Job Title: Payroll Officer
Salary: £26,135 - £29,000 per annum (DOE) + Comprehensive Benefits
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Type: Permanent
Location: Lytham St Annes
Start Date: ASAP
Work Pattern: Monday – Friday

We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy Payroll & Benefits Team within a leading retail business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with end-to-end payroll experience who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
You will be a key part of the payroll function, processing payments for over 1,000 employees while also contributing to the delivery of payroll and HR solutions that improve operational efficiency and support internal stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end payroll processing for over 1,000 employees with a strong focus on compliance and accuracy
  • Making informed and accurate decisions on payroll matters
  • Supporting reporting and analysis, including National Living Wage compliance and Gender Pay Gap analysis
  • Recording and calculating absence-related data including sickness, holidays, maternity and paternity leave
  • Managing timesheet calculations and attachments of earnings
  • Reviewing payroll-related emails and taking appropriate action
  • Administering employee benefits including pensions
  • Acting as a key point of contact for payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
  • Supporting the wider Payroll & Benefits department with ad hoc administrative tasks
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Knowledge of National Living Wage legislation and Gender Pay Gap reporting
  • Proficient in Excel including VLOOKUPs and accurate data entry
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable with evolving systems and processes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable:
  • Payroll experience in a multisite or retail environment
  • Exposure to payroll system integrations
  • Experience managing benefits in kind through the Payrolling Benefits process
  • Adaptability to environments with flexible procedures and policies
