Job Title: Payroll Officer
Salary: £26,135 - £29,000 per annum (DOE) + Comprehensive Benefits
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Type: Permanent
Location: Lytham St Annes (Fully office based)
Start Date: ASAP
Work Pattern: Monday – Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established and fast-paced organisation in the retail sector.
 
As a Payroll Officer, you’ll be a vital part of the Payroll & Benefits Team, supporting the delivery of an accurate, timely, and compliant payroll service for over 1,000 employees across multiple sites. You'll play a key role in end-to-end payroll processing, benefits administration, and supporting internal stakeholders with essential reporting and analysis.

Key responsibilities
  • Full end-to-end payroll processing for over 1,000 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with legislation.
  • Process and record absence-related data, including sickness, holiday, maternity and paternity leave.
  • Manage timesheet calculations and attachments of earnings.
  • Maintain and review payroll-related communications and act promptly on queries and updates.
  • Administer employee benefits including pensions and other pay-related entitlements.
  • Ensure correct coding and reporting aligned to pay and HR data, including Gender Pay Gap and National Living Wage compliance.
  • Act as a point of contact for payroll-related queries across the business.
  • Support payroll reporting and assist with continuous improvement of processes and system integrations.
  • Collaborate with the HR and finance teams on ad hoc payroll-related administrative duties.
Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential:
  • Experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a fast-paced business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of National Living Wage legislation and Gender Pay Gap reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and accurate data entry.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in environments where systems and processes are evolving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly to non-specialists.
Desirable:
  • Previous payroll experience in a multisite or retail environment.
  • Exposure to payroll system integrations.
  • Experience managing benefits in kind through the Payrolling Benefits
  • Ability to adapt to workplaces with flexible procedures and policies.
