Job Title: Repairs Surveyor

Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £46.97 p/h (Inside IR35) / £34.91 PAYE 

About the Role: Our local authority client is seeking an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join their Housing and Property team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-quality, responsive repairs service across the Council’s housing and property portfolio—including approximately 10,500 tenanted homes, 3,000 garages, and 700 corporate/commercial properties.
The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic service delivery team, managing day-to-day repairs, conducting inspections, and ensuring all work meets legal, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and inspect responsive repairs across domestic and commercial buildings.
  • Undertake property surveys and diagnose building faults.
  • Raise and manage works orders, including variations and follow-up works.
  • Support neighbourhood officers with complex technical cases and legal disrepair claims.
  • Liaise with contractors, ensuring specifications and health and safety standards are met.
  • Monitor gas servicing, health and safety compliance, and contractor performance.
  • Survey and specify insurance-related repair works (e.g. fire, vandalism, flood).
  • Contribute to statutory and cyclical testing programs (e.g. gas, electric, asbestos).
  • Provide technical support on building services and manage risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in preparing reports and court documentation when necessary.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in building surveying or inspections.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, fault diagnosis, and remedial solutions.
  • Understanding of disrepair law and CDM/Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to interact with tenants, leaseholders, and non-technical staff.
  • Experience managing budgets and contract administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and capable of updating repair records.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction-related field.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
Desirable:
  • Disrepair survey experience
  • Experience with damp and mould investigations
  • Familiarity with housing maintenance in a local government setting
