Location: Bournemouth
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract
Working Hours: Full Time – 37 Hours per Week
Rate: £640 per day (Umbrella) (£500 PAYE per day)

About the Role Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council are seeking an experienced and driven SEND Team Manager to join their dynamic team on a 6-month contract. This role is a pivotal leadership position, responsible for managing a team that delivers high-quality services and positive outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team to ensure effective, high-quality practice and consistent delivery of outcomes for vulnerable children.
  • Provide high-quality supervision to team members, fostering a culture of reflection, development, and excellence in practice.
  • Oversee the coordination and delivery of SEND statutory processes, ensuring compliance with current legislation and national guidance.
  • Promote inclusive practice in line with local and national policies, with a focus on reducing out-of-authority and independent placements.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals across education, health, and social care to ensure effective planning, particularly at key transition points (e.g., preschool to school, school to Post-16/Post-19).
  • Support and develop processes for assessment, preventative interventions, and statutory responsibilities for children and young people aged 0–25 with high-level SEND.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in SEND caselaw and legislation, and contribute to the creation and revision of statutory assessment guidance and procedures.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification.
  • Appropriate professional qualification (e.g., law, public administration, education, social care, or health).
  • A qualification in SEND or evidence of significant and extensive experience in the SEND sector.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
  • Previous involvement in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, statutory processes, and best practice models.
  • Management qualification or willingness to undertake management training.
