Transport Manager

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Bedfordshire is currently recruiting for an Transport Manager to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within the public sector within a traffic management environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to lead projects delivered by the client and be responsible for all aspects of service delivery from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead the Council's Integrated Transport Team safely, effectively and sustainably including provision of technical expertise.
  • Be an advocate for continuous improvement, ensure best practice is utilised and excellent service provided
  • Ensure the team are working efficiently and delivering their roles whilst providing specialist/expert advice for the service in line with corporate aspirations.
  • Be accountable for the team's capital budget ensuring that the Council receives best value.
  • Represent the authority at regional meetings, developing and maintaining effective supplier

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require a qualification appropriate to the level of the role as well as experience in a similar role, ideally with a traffic engineering/management background.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • organised and have significant in-depth knowledge of highway and traffic legislation and regulations including the Highways Act, the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and the Traffic Management Act.
  • analyse statistical data, write policy and strategy documents, and enjoy completing tasks in a complex environment

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £52,547 - £55,929 per annum including various other benefits.
