Childrens Home Registered Manager
Location: Bradford
Client: Bradford Metropolitan District Council
Salary: £ 321.29 per day (Umbrealla)
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week
About the Role: As a Children’s Homes Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the home, providing therapeutic care and support for children in care. This is a vital opportunity to shape high-quality services within a local authority where most homes are rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by Ofsted. You will lead a skilled and committed team, ensuring a nurturing environment that enables children to heal, develop, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
• Register with Ofsted and maintain high standards to achieve “Good” or “Outstanding” ratings
• Embed therapeutic approaches to promote emotional and social well-being
• Oversee quality assurance, audits, and implement action plans to drive improvement
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding frameworks
• Manage home budgets, staffing, and performance to support effective service delivery
• Promote a positive and inclusive culture that prioritises the voice and rights of children
• Build partnerships with families, professionals, and stakeholders to enhance outcomes
• Support the wider leadership team to drive continuous improvement across the service
Experience & Knowledge
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within the past 5 years working in children’s residential care (essential)
• At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role in residential settings (essential)
• Extensive knowledge of Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and children’s legislation
• Experience achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted outcomes as a manager or deputy
• Proven experience in budget management and quality assurance processes
• Understanding of therapeutic models, trauma-informed care, and best practices in children’s services
Skills & Competencies
• Exceptional leadership and team development abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident in managing risk, safeguarding, and service performance
• Skilled in fostering inclusive, child-centred, and nurturing environments
• Ability to influence a positive culture through creativity, resilience, and reflective practice
• Competent in strategic thinking, service planning, and innovation
• Effective at partnership working with professionals, families, and agencies
Additional Requirements
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 3 years of appointment)
• Commitment to attend Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Signs of Safety training
• Enhanced DBS check required
• Commitment to continuous professional development
