Job Title: Neighbourhood Services Officer

Work Location: - Billericay CM12

Contract Type: Temporary

Weekly Hours: 36 Hours per week - Monday to Friday (2 in office )


As a Neighbourhood Services Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing a high-quality and prompt housing management service, with a strong focus on placing customers at the centre of our operations. You will serve as ambassador on allocated estates, offering advice and support to customers, helping them access all services, and ensuring tenancy conditions are enforced. Your work will involve collaboration with internal and external partners to enhance the quality of life for residents, particularly in dealing with anti-social behaviour. By performing your duties effectively, you will help raise the profile of services and ultimately contribute to improved customer satisfaction.


Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that all services provided prioritise and put customers at the heart of everything we do.
  • Act as an advocate for residents, enabling them to access essential services both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with other teams across the organisation and external partners to assist residents in addressing various issues affecting their tenancies.
  • Provide support for vulnerable residents, identify safeguarding concerns, and make appropriate referrals for support.
  • Handle cases involving abandoned, sublet, and squatted properties, hoarding, and estate management.
  • Offer support, advice, and guidance to victims of Domestic Abuse and Hate Crime, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Manage all cases of anti-social behaviour, following the prevention-then-intervention approach, and initiate legal action as necessary to address unacceptable behaviour, including the enforcement of tenancy conditions as a last resort.
  • Efficiently manage estates, neighbourhoods, and communal areas to maintain high-quality services and continually improve the environment.
  • Liaise with residents and repair partners to help resolve complex repair issues and complaints.
  • Support the void property process, including viewings and pre-void inspections where required.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings as necessary.
  • Promote resident involvement by attending and servicing meetings, working with resident representatives to enhance service delivery while considering residents' needs.
  • Assist tenants with support needs in accessing services to enable tenancy sustainment.

Essential Criteria

  • Access to a car and driver with a full valid UK driving license.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in housing management within a housing association or local authority.
  • Thorough and applied knowledge of housing management techniques.
  • Knowledge of delivering effective maintenance services.
  • Welfare Benefits knowledge.
  • Demonstrable capability of customer service soft skills including empathy and taking ownership
  • Good organisational ability, efficiency and the ability to prioritise and multi task
  • Ability to work on own initiative and remain calm under pressure
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
