Social Worker

Warrington Borough Council are seeking a qualified and MASH social worker with experience in frontline social work in a local authority to join their team as a Childrens Social Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality effective social work practice by supporting on the response at the front door within the Children's Advice and Duty Service (MASH).

This is a full-time role, working 5 days per week for 3 months initially. The successful candidate must be office-based part of the week for 3 days, and there is hybrid working in place. There is subsidised car parking close by in a central town location with proximity to main road networks and working across a 10-mile radius approx in Blackburn and Darwen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to all new enquiries made at the front door
  • Supporting all team members within the Advice and Duty Service to meet performance demands
  • Developing a high standard of practice and decision making within the Advice and Duty Service
  • Supporting colleagues within CADS as part of their continuous professional development
  • Working collaboratively with the receiving referral and assessment teams as regards new work requiring assessments
  • Abiding by the objectives of both the Children's Advice and Duty Service and the Department as a whole and to follow the procedures and practices utilised in all aspects of the work, including computerised and manual systems, and the maintenance of relevant, accurate and timely records
  • Promoting and developing the Borough's vision and values

Requirements

  • Qualified, registered social worker with experience of safeguarding and court work
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience
  • Ability to use judgement and authority to intervene with individuals, families and communities to promote independence, provide support and prevent harm, neglect and abuse
  • DipSW, BA in Social Work or equivalent Social Work Qualification
  • SWE Registration
