Contract Type: Temporary (Initial 3 months)
Hours: Full-time, Hybrid (Office attendance required on Mondays and Thursdays)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced administrative professional to support statutory duties related to Special Educational Needs (SEN) casework. The successful candidate will work closely with the Early Help Team and other stakeholders to ensure the effective coordination of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This hybrid role requires attendance at the Barnsley office on Mondays and Thursdays.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of EHCPs in line with statutory duties.
- Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face, including sensitive and emotive cases.
- Provide comprehensive advice and guidance on SEN processes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Administer statutory assessment panels, including agenda preparation, minute taking, and action tracking.
- Assist with documentation for panels, appeals, and tribunals.
- Handle complaints professionally and sensitively.
- Maintain accurate records and manage electronic data across case management systems.
- Order goods/services and resolve financial queries.
- Compile and analyse data for reports and statutory returns.
- Promote digital service usage and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
- Experience working with legal/statutory processes and deadlines.
- Background in local government or large organisations.
- Handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the public.
- Managing demanding workloads and meeting strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of SEN and related services is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the Data Protection Act and confidentiality principles.
- Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet use.
- Confident in using case management systems.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Emotional resilience and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- Training in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work flexibly and undertake professional development.
- Commitment to council values and behaviours.
- Ability to travel as required for the role.
