A client within the Public Sector based in Northamptonshire is currently recruiting for a Development Control Officer (Minerals and Waste) to join their Planning and Development team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning and minerals & waste development environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to determine applications for minerals and waste development. This will include undertaking site visits, providing pre-application advice, and attending planning committees of the three authorities as required when applications are considered.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Determining planning applications for minerals and waste development.
• Providing robust pre-application advice to applicants and stakeholders.
• Attending and presenting at planning committees across the three authorities.
• Monitoring permitted and operational minerals and waste sites across the councils.
• Investigating authorised development and initiating enforcement action where necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with planning legislation, policies and procedures.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- Significant experience in minerals and waste development management (not just occasional applications).
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, minerals and waste policies, and enforcement procedures.
- Relevant professional qualification in Town Planning or equivalent.
- Chartered Membership of the RTPI or equivalent professional body.
- Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload effectively.
