Prison Recovery Worker – Based in Hull Pay up to £24 per hour (umbrella) - £18.92 PAYE Exclusive - £21.20 PAYE Inclusive 3-Month Contract (extension possible)
We’re recruiting for a Prison Recovery Workers to work in the Hull area.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals in custody with their recovery journey and ensuring continuity of care on release.
The Role As a Prison Recovery Worker, you will deliver high-quality substance misuse interventions within a custodial environment. You’ll provide 1:1 and group support, develop recovery-focused initiatives, and play a key role in building pathways into community services.
Your work will contribute directly to improving outcomes, reducing reoffending, and supporting safer custody through integrated working.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver wellbeing and prevention groups, psychosocial interventions, and harm reduction programmes
- Provide meaningful 1:1 sessions and structured group work
- Support release planning to ensure continuity of care into the community
- Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, including safer custody and prison offender management
- Carry and manage a caseload effectively
- Identify and engage service users who would benefit from family/carer support
- Develop service questionnaires, recovery hubs, and focus groups – bringing innovation and motivation to the role
- Line manage and support volunteers working within the service
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the prison environment and operational procedures
- Promote safeguarding, safety, and wellbeing for all service users
- Prison clearance (essential)
- Previous experience in substance misuse, recovery work, or offender support
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Understanding of prison operations and multidisciplinary working
- Ability to manage caseloads and deliver structured interventions
- Commitment to safeguarding and best practice
- Up to £24ph umbrella
- 3-month contract with possibility of extension
- 37.5 Hours per week
