Service Care Solutions are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to recruit for a Waste Enforcement Officer on a 12-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension at the client’s discretion. This role is ideal for someone with experience in waste services or environmental enforcement who is passionate about upholding environmental standards, tackling waste-related offences, and supporting cleaner, safer communities.
Role Summary
The Waste Enforcement Officer will monitor compliance with waste legislation, investigate complaints, and take enforcement action where necessary. You will work with residents, businesses, and contractors to raise awareness, reduce environmental offences, and ensure public spaces are managed responsibly.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce waste regulations across the borough
- Carry out inspections and investigate waste-related complaints
- Issue enforcement notices, fixed penalty notices, and prepare evidence for legal proceedings
- Engage with residents, businesses, and contractors to improve compliance and reduce offences
- Maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports on enforcement activities
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in waste services, environmental enforcement, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of waste legislation, environmental regulations, and enforcement procedures
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to investigate complaints and prepare accurate evidence and reports
- Good IT and record-keeping skills
