A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Development Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning and development management environment.

The Role
The key purpose of the role is to carry out development management and development project activities, delivering a comprehensive planning service for major development proposals that contribute to the regeneration and sustainability of the district and to the effective delivery of the statutory responsibilities of the local planning authority.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Processing and determining major planning applications, including complex and contentious proposals.
• Preparing and presenting reports and recommendations on planning applications, appeals and development proposals.
• Presenting planning proposals to Planning Panels, Committees and public meetings.
• Representing the Council at informal hearings, providing evidence as required.
• Advising on pre-application submissions and liaising with Members, applicants, and the public.
• Working proactively to secure planning obligations and promote regeneration opportunities.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a degree or diploma in Town Planning (or related subject with post-graduate qualification in Town Planning) along with at least five years’ experience in planning, including three years within development management/development control in the last five years.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience of presenting proposals to Planning Panels/Committees and public meetings.
• Experience of presenting evidence at informal hearings.
• Ability to prepare clear reports and communicate complex planning issues effectively.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £55 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £45 per hour PAYE).
