A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Technical Officer to join their Environmental Health Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within an Environmental Health / Environmental Protection environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to carry out the investigation of service requests over a wide range of environmental issues from receipt through to resolution. This includes site visits, monitoring, evidence collection, preparing and serving enforcement notices, monitoring compliance, conducting PACE interviews, preparing statements, and attending Court when necessary.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Investigating statutory nuisances, pollution, contaminated land and planning-related environmental issues.
- Gathering evidence, preparing reports, and serving enforcement notices where necessary.
- Undertaking sampling of materials such as water, air, land and hazardous substances.
- Providing professional witness evidence in legal proceedings, licensing hearings, and appeals.
- Giving technical advice and guidance to the public, businesses and other council departments.
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of environmental legislation and enforcement within a local authority setting.
- Experience in evidence gathering, enforcement processes, and court procedures.
- PACE interview training/experience.
- Strong technical report-writing skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply environmental regulations effectively.
