Cyrus Sharp

Compliance Coordinator

About Cyrus

Give us a brief overview of your professional background...

My work experience has primarily been in customer-facing roles, but I've always been voluntarily providing administrative support for a dance school local to me for years now. After recently finishing my degree, I felt it was time to try and find something more suited to my qualifications, hoping to provide a blend of my support and administration strengths to something now.

And what does your day-to-day role involve?

I am a Compliance Coordinator and my duties involve ensuring documentation for candidates is properly gathered and maintained to ensure applications go ahead smoothly. I process DBS applications, answer queries and send updates to consultants, update spreadsheets, and double (double-double) check everything that comes onto my desk!

If you weren't working in recruitment, what would you be doing?

I would most likely be in Japan or China teaching English as a second language. I was fully prepared, learning the languages and finishing off my degree in the hopes of getting there, and then in 2020 it all went pear-shaped. I was offered a role in Zhejiang Province (China) prior to joining with SCS, but the current costs involved after the pandemic (as well as the consistently heavy restrictions) it certainly doesn't seem to be on the cards for me now.

Using only 3 words, how would you describe Service Care?

Welcoming, supportive, and lively!

What's your favourite quote/piece of advice you've ever been given?

'Petit a petit, I'oiseau fait son nid'. - le Dictionnaire de l'Academie Francaise, 1835

Meaning 'Little by little, the bird builds his nest'.

Lastly, when you're not in work, where can we find you?

It depends on the day! Either at home tinkering with my custom-built computer, knitting, studying a new language or writing (I'm being published in July!). Or I'm hard at work in the dance studio, out finding the best places to eat or eyeing up designer clothes and accessories.
